Luke Byrne’s Personal Life & Hobbies
Born in Kiama and raised at his parent’s farm in Berry, Luke moved to Queensland to study dentistry at university. He successfully graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor and Dental Science Honors. With over a decade of experience in dental practice, Luke has become Shellharbour’s most trusted dentist. When he isn’t attending to all our emergency dental needs, he likes to spend time in the Australian bush for a spot of camping, fishing, hiking and four-wheel driving in the great outdoors.
Kim-Anh Byrne BOH (Senior Hygienist / Therapist)
Kim also studied and trained at the University of Queensland, where she achieved a Bachelor in Oral Hygiene but now is in charge of overseeing Shellharbour City Dental patient’s oral health. As an experienced and highly skilled Hygienist and Dental Therapist, Kim thoroughly cleans all patients’ gums and teeth whilst advising on preventing dental disease.
Thanks to her easy-going nature, she is a favourite with our teenage and child patients. She will educate all her patients on the correct brushing techniques and flossing of teeth whilst managing the six-monthly preventive dental Shellharbour care program consisting of examination, thorough scale and polish, and fluoride treatments.
Kim-Anh Byrne Personal Life & Hobbies
When Kim has a break, she loves camping, hiking and travelling. She is a big foodie and loves to eat her way around the culinary delights of the world. Kim wants to change the world "one SMILE at a time".
Dr Erwin Halim BDS, MRACDS (PDS)
Dr Erwin graduated from The University of Adelaide with a Bachelor Degree in Dental Science.
He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is a strong proponent of preventive and minimal intervention dentistry.
Dr Erwin is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and is an Invisalign® accredited general Dentist.
Dr Erwin believes in continuing professional education to keep to the latest digital dentistry techniques and CAD/CAM technology. Dr Erwin has completed training with Invisalign and other clear aligners brand such as angel aligners , Clearcorrect and Suresmile.
He is passionate to continue learning and ensuring that his practice and knowledge are up to date and that he continues to provide the best standard of care for his patients.

Dr Vivian Huynh
Dr Vivian Huynh is a passionate dentist who has serviced the Illawarra, where she calls home, since 2017. She graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2016.
Vivian believes that prevention is always better than cure and leans towards minimal intervention dentistry where possible. She is especially popular with children and anxious dental patients because of her warm and friendly personality. Dr Vivian particularly enjoys cosmetic dentistry, especially with fixed and removable prosthodontics, including crowns, bridges, veneers and dentures. She is also a qualified Invisalign provider. Vivian wants all her patients to know that there’s no such thing as a silly question!
Personal Life and Hobbies
In her free time, Dr Vivian enjoys travelling, reading, learning random topics from podcasts, keeping active with her dog, and challenging herself in half marathon runs. When not in the dental surgery, you can usually find Dr Vivian around one of the Illawarra's beautiful beaches!
Dr Komal Kaur
After spending five years in Orange NSW, Komal moved to the Illawarra to join the Shellharbour City Dental team. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, with a particular focus on prevention and minimal intervention dentistry. She performs restorative care, periodontal treatment, whitening, extractions, cosmetic dentistry, dentures and general maintenance care in patients of all ages.
Komal keeps up to date with the latest research to provide her patients with the best relevant and holistic care, regularly attending courses to expand her knowledge. Her gentle and friendly approach goes far in ensuring children and nervous patients have a positive and comfortable experience at the dentist.
Outside of dentistry, you will find Komal on the hunt for some almond croissants, or on a walk at the beach.
Dr Michael Han D.M.D (USYD) B.Pharm (Hons) AACPA
Dr Michael Han is a general dentist who graduated from the University of Sydney with a postgraduate degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine. As a generalist, he enjoys all aspects of dentistry and provides a wide range of treatments. From restoring cavities to performing tooth extractions and cosmetic treatments, he is known for his meticulous attention to detail.
Dr Han is an avid photographer. He routinely takes clinical photographs to show and educate patients about their oral health which is the foundation of a healthy and beautiful smile. He aims to promote long term oral health and well-being by offering personalised treatment plans which include both preventing and effectively treating dental problems in a timely manner.
Dr Han also holds a degree in Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and underwent further training to work as an accredited consultant pharmacist for a number of years prior to pursuing dentistry. This equips him with the expertise to ensure that his patients’ current medications do not interfere with their planned dental treatments and prescriptions.
Outside of his professional endeavours, Dr Han enjoys the coastal lifestyle of the Illawarra and likes to go on adventurous hikes, immersing himself in nature—of course, always with his camera in hand to capture the beauty of the surroundings.
